These are informal days, organised by individual members often in their own workshops, when we share skills and advice on a particular topic. There is a minimal charge to cover tea/coffee etc, we have a bring-&-share lunch, and it’s a good opportunity to get to know other members. We try to encourage members in different parts of the region to host these days, so that all can take part without excess travelling.
The Summer Gathering is a sociable family day, when we meet at an interesting location suggested by members, usually with an activity or visit as a focus.
The Annual General Meeting is held in early November, and as well as the formal business there is some activity or an informal forum.
In June each year, we participate in the Basketmakers Association’s rush-cutting in Somerset. Those who are individual members of the BA can take home some of the rush, for others it is an interesting – and sometimes challenging – day out, learning about the rush industry.
